THE ANSWER MARCH AND RALLY OF MARCH 17 TH

On March 17 th 2007 there was an anti-war march sponsored by

International ANSWER to bring attention to the 4 th year of the

US involvement in the war in Iraq.

Normally this would have been like most anti-war protests as there

was just a large anti-war march on January 27 th, but this time there

was a strong in number group of opposition from a counter rally calling

it’s self “The Gathering of Eagles” who were a combination of various

conservative activist groups such as Free Republic, Protest Warrior and

the biker group Rolling Thunder.

There were quite a few “feisty” moments as some of the GOE

participants at one point created a “gauntlet” on both sides of the

sidewalk of Constitution Ave where there was a barrage of cat calls,

insults and even some pushing and shoving while the anti-war

demonstrators tried to walk past to get to the meeting spot before the march.

Yet, there are reports from both sides of less than nice behavior I

only got the shots of the “gauntlet” situation.

The march was a decent size as the various different peace

groups joined in to march to the Pentagon..

At the Pentagon there was a stand-off between the SDS aka

the Black Bloc and the Pentagon police.
