The Council for the National Interest and The Navy Memorial Foundation Honour the Victims of the USS Liberty.

On June 8, 2007, The Council for the National Interest (CNI) http://www.cnifoundation.org/ and The United States Navy Memorial Foundation http://www.navymemorial.org/ did a joint memorial for the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty in 1967.

The line up of speakers for the event was a combination of CNI representatives, a USS Liberty survivor, and a Naval Memorial Foundation representative.

From what I could gather from this website http://cnionline.org/news/election2006/ the speakers from the far left of my photo are Peter Viering and Ambassador Edward Peck of CNI. I think the gentlemen next to them are Ernie Gallo and Stan White of the USS Liberty Foundation http://www.ussliberty.org/ . The woman in the white blazer is from the US Navy Memorial Foundation, but I didn’t catch her name.

The crowd drew in many of the survivors of the tragedy and family members in a ceremony with a wreath and flowers for those who didn’t survive the attack: James M. Lupton, Jerry Lee Goss, Lawrence P. Hayden, David W. Marlborough, Carl C. Nygren, and Jack L. Raper in an honouring lead by Rear Admiral Dennis D. Woofter, USN Director, Medical Resources, Plans and Policy Chief of Naval Operations.

Also in attendance was CNI’s board member Eugene (Gene) Bird.

And, Alison Weir, of the organization If American’s Knew http://www.ifamericansknew.org/ who is also on the board of CNI. (she is in the black dress)

Also, in attendance was Ingrid Zundel, who I just recently covered http://www.isisimagery.com/2007/2007_may/2007_may_event_1.htm

(she is the woman holding the water bottle) her site is: http://www.zundelsite.org/

Until the next event

Peace OUT!
